Every year, with the arrival of the first spring sunrays, the Catalan municipality of Aitona transforms, painting itself in delicate shades of pink. This magical time of peach tree blossoming is one of the most captivating and beautiful sights, worth traveling to Catalonia for in early spring. In this unique region, generously irrigated by the waters of the Segre River, the art of fruit cultivation has been passed down from generation to generation for several centuries, creating an unparalleled cultural and natural landscape.
Every spring, the Catalan municipality of Aitona transforms into a pink sea of blooming peach orchards. This natural phenomenon is one of Catalonia's most impressive spectacles, attracting photographers and travelers from around the world.
Located in the province of Lleida, Aitona is famous for its centuries-old fruit-growing traditions. The local gardens, irrigated by the waters of the Segre River, create a picturesque landscape that is especially magnificent during the flowering period.
From March 7 to 21, the municipality organizes a series of events dedicated to local fruit orchards. Besides peaches, they grow nectarines, cherries, apricots, and figs, offering visitors not only the beauty of the blossoms but also a chance to taste the delicious fruits of this region.
Our program includes a three-hour walk along the famous "Ruta de la flor rosa del melocotonero" (Pink Peach Blossom Trail). We will walk through picturesque gardens, learn about the work of local gardeners, discover the history of the region, and hear interesting legends passed down through generations.
To conclude our journey, we will visit the unique exhibition "La primavera del Japón en Aitona" (Japanese Spring in Aitona) in the 16th-century San Gaietà chapel, which connects the traditions of Catalonia and Japan through the beauty of spring blossoms.
