One of the most mysterious and mystical places in Catalonia 💫
Rupit — the Spanish town of witches 🧙🏽♀️, is considered the most mysterious settlement in Catalonia. Stories about it are full of dark tales. In the Middle Ages, many witches lived here, moving to this place in hopes of practicing their dark arts away from the capital's authorities. At one point, there were so many of them that the settlement gained a second name among the people — "The Witches' Nest."
✅ Our journey will begin at the El Morro de l'Abella viewpoint, where we'll not only enjoy breathtaking views but also have a hearty breakfast. Then, we'll witness a true wonder of nature - a majestic 124-meter waterfall near Rupit. According to local legend, this is the very waterfall from which witches were thrown in ancient times. ✅ After an unforgettable walk to the "waterfall of all waterfalls" and enjoying stunning views, we'll head to the mysterious town of witches - Rupit. Here, an exciting journey through time awaits us: we'll wander through narrow medieval streets, soaking in the atmosphere of antiquity and mysticism. We'll visit cozy cafes where we can rest, exchange impressions, and try local delicacies. For souvenir lovers, this is a real paradise - numerous shops offer unique items from local craftsmen, allowing you to take a piece of this magical place with you. After a busy day full of new experiences, we'll head back. 😉

If time allows, we'll also visit Besalú - another town closely linked to the history of witches in this region. This town is a real time machine: its medieval architecture has remained virtually unchanged since the 9th century 💥, which allowed it to gain the status of a historical national heritage site in 1966. You'll enter the town across a majestic 12th-century bridge, visit the ancient 11th-century Church of Sant Pere, and see unique reconstructed 11th-12th century Jewish ritual baths. Every stone here breathes history!
✅ The planned return time to Barcelona is 19:00-19:30. However, given the packed schedule, we may arrive a bit earlier or later - it all depends on how quickly we progress along the route and how much time we want to spend at each attraction. Be prepared for a whole day filled with adventures and discoveries!
