Our excursion to Mount Tibidabo begins in the center of Barcelona. We'll meet at Plaza Catalunya, from where we'll take the train to the starting point of our hiking route. After a few minutes, leaving behind the urban hustle and bustle, we'll enter Collserola Natural Park. This mountainous area, covered with various species of trees and shrubs, is the green lung of the Barcelona agglomeration. Its numerous hiking and cycling routes make it a paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
The route will take us along the eastern slope of Tibidabo. From there, we'll admire Barcelona with its symmetrical neighborhoods and most iconic attractions at our feet: Sagrada Familia, Camp Nou, Torre Agbar, Park Güell, or Montjuïc...
Surrounded by nature, forest sounds, and clean air, we'll temporarily distance ourselves from the noise of Barcelona's streets. Viewpoints, shaded picnic areas, and numerous springs offer a respite on the hottest days. The Fabra Astronomical Observatory, Collserola Tower, and Gran Hotel La Florida, Barcelona's oldest five-star hotel, stand out in the landscape.
The trail will lead us to the highest point of our excursion, Tibidabo peak, at an altitude of 500 meters. This is undoubtedly one of Barcelona's most charming places. The Tibidabo Amusement Park, opened in 1899, is the oldest in Spain and one of the first in Europe. Its historical attractions, still in operation, attract visitors of all ages. Right next to it is the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with its impressive sculpture, one of the city's most characteristic monuments. Its terrace offers a spectacular panoramic view of Barcelona, Collserola Natural Park, and the Mediterranean Sea in the background. On clear days, you can even see the island of Mallorca on the horizon. Here we'll conclude our excursion to Mount Tibidabo. We'll descend, enjoying the magnificent views of the city a bit more. Finally, we'll take the train back to the center of Barcelona, where our tour will end.
